Snail was made initially as a gift for some friends who own a gallery in Paris. Their showroom was in a very old building which included an elaborate carved post supporting the first floor level commencement of a stair railing. The top notch on this spiraled finale was missing so I secretly measured and produced my version of what eventually was added to the pinnacle of their grand stairway kingpin!    (next sculpture)
