Rosewood Quail

This little piece was a great confidence builder for me while I was still in high school. I was commissioned by a biology teacher to carve a california quail. She and her husband were able to loan me a live model and though he was scared and fidgety, he was invaluable reference. What a perceptive gift this experience was for me!    (next sculpture)
