Nonchalant

ã2002 by Ross Matteson   bronze   15 x 17 x 7 inches    edition size 30   Sold Out Edition

Ever since taking a walk on a Pacific Ocean beach and seeing a beautiful wild peregrine falcon perched at the very end of a long driftwood branch in low evening light, I've been wanting to do this sculpture.    The title of this life sized bird, Nonchalant, comes from the extreme confidence and comfort expressed by a perched falcon with a full crop.   Even when harassed by crows, this bird might be as inclined to cast a glance up at a passing insect as toward the mobbing nuisance.   (next sculpture)
