Maquette ã1998 by Ross Matteson bronze 8 x 4 x 5 inches edition size 50 Sold Out Edition |
Maquette is a portrait of my trained gyrfalcon. Knowing that this falcon would be a model for many of my sculpture projects, I named him "Maquette". Maquette is a French word that essentially means "model". For a sculptor, having live reference that you can actually touch, is even more beneficial than making distant field observations. The field observations do become critical for behavior studies. We are pleased and honored that Southwest Art magazine has chosen to have Maquette on the front cover of their July, 1999 issue.
