A family I know has three beautiful daughters of Alaskan Alutiiq and European Irish ethnic heritage. Two of the girls provided the reference I needed for this sculpture. One challenge for me was in honoring both sides of their culture. The Aluttiq people love their abundant wildlife. The Irish, on the other hand, have a history of practicing falconry. Arguably, both cultures would unify around their respect for these birds. (next sculpture)
